The OT - Bible Study

Join us in studying the 5 Sacrifices mentioned in Leviticus. We will take an in-depth look into each one and answer the following questions: What are the 5 Sacrifices? What do they signify? How does the sacrifice of Jesus fulfill each one? What should our response be in light of this study?

I will post snippets as we move a long in the study. I hope you enjoy. Also, feel free to comment or ask questions.

The intention of the OT is the revealing of the One True God and how He revealed Himself to people in past history. Through the OT, God reveals what He is like and obliges Himself to a course of action which involves a revealing of His attributes. We see His incommunicable (not shared by humans) and His communicable attributes on display throughout all of Scripture, but in looking at the Sacrificial System, we will see and understand His moral attributes in greater detail. Attributes most easily seen are His goodness, love, mercy, grace, patience, holiness and peace. The sacrifices draw out a more clear description of His lesser talked about attributes such as His justice (righteousness), jealousy and wrath. We must understand these attributes in order to fully grasp the infinite glory of His goodness, love, mercy, grace, patience, holiness and peace. With that being said, the most complete revelation of all of God’s attributes are on display in the person of Jesus Christ. In the face, body and work of Christ, we see all of God’s glory (all His attributes) on display (2 Cor 4:6, Heb 1:1- 4). Along the same lines, the sacrifices help understand the person and work of Christ. Therefore, as we move along in this study, we need to keep in mind two things: The attributes of God and the work of Christ. Both of these will point us to a greater knowledge of God and how He reveals Himself to us.
