How do you know you believe? "Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness." (1 John 2:9 ESV)
Pure unconditional love is what sets us apart from the world. The new commandment is to love, though this wasn't new, Jesus commanded to love even our enemies; which broke all boundaries. If you cannot even love your brother, be sure there is no "light" in you.
